We are still reading the story The Little Red Hen in class. But this week we are continuing to learn about instructions. Mrs Lees sent us a video message asking us to follow instructions to create a dance. We have been introduced to new language; after that and next. We now know that these words mean the same as then. We remembered our text type; instructions. We also remembered how important it is to follow instructions carefully and in the correct order!
We followed the instructions together!
We were able to give and follow instructions from our friends!
We have used the iPads to record each other giving instructions to make bread. We are showing a greater understanding of new vocabulary: first, then and finally
We have been ordering pictures with instructions on how to make bread. We used these pictures to help us when recording each other.
We have started learninng about instructions this week. We will be learning to read and write in this text style for the next 2 weeks. We received a letter from the Little Red Hen with instructions on how to make bread. We have been learning instructional language: first, then and finally. We now know first is at the beginning. It is where you start. Then comes after something else. Finally is at the end. It is the last thing you do.
We have been performing and recording the Little Red Hen story. We worked together to build the story. We were able to sequence the events correctly and recall the text from memory. We then worked independently to build the replies from the Rat, the Cat and the Bull.
We have been learning the Pie Corbett talk4writing version of The Little Red Hen
Part 1 We have become really fluent and confident telling this story. The video is in 2 parts due to the length of the video.
This week we are learning through the story of The Little Red Hen. We received a basket of freshly baked bread and enjoyed discussing where it had come from. Someone even suggested it was from Thomas the baker from the Great Fire of London! We retold the story of The Little Red Hen and loved using the actions. We started looking at the story map. This will be used a lot in the week to help us with our writing.
