Well done to the Year 6 girls for beating Year 3 girls. Hlya, Lidya and Chloe were the top 3 scorers.

Boys, what happened? Well done to Marouane and Ashley who both battled hard but unfortunately, we need more boys to be playing regularly and trying to up their score to have a chance at winning.

The next battle is against year 5. Good luck and do year 6 proud!

Today I would like you to complete the white rose maths challenge. Open up the document below to access the problems. How many can you solve? Get your family involved as well. You could work together or make it into a competition.

Monday 11th May 2020

Hi lovelies

Well this week should have been very different! The classrooms should all be blank and set up ready for you to take the tests you’ve all worked so hard to face but the virus has meant that is not to happen. I know many of you will have mixed feelings about this but remember there is so much more to you than what is on a test!

Week Commencing 11th May - SATs Week!

As SATs week arrives it is not quite the same,

The tests that were printed this year never came,

The classroom stands empty - displays still on the wall,
But it doesn’t feel the same, not without you all.

For some of you, happiness, lots of relief,

For others a sigh of pure disbelief,

That you worked really hard in advance of this week,

Expected and Greater Depth marks you did seek.

Algebra, fractions, the times table drills,

Inference, retrieval, in-depth reading skills,

Past present, progressive…and all the SPAG terms,

You’ve practised and mastered them over the years.

Fear not though, the SATs, yes, won’t happen this term,

But remember tests don’t measure everything you learn,

Primary subjects are varied; you’ve all tried your best,

And many of those skills that you’ve gained can’t be defined by a test.

So, here at Brookfields, you’ve made us so proud,

We sit here with pride and we shout this out loud…

“Year 6 you amaze us, you’ve come incredibly far…

We don’t need a test to see how amazing you are!”

For today, I would like you to have a go at writing your own poem. It could be about SATs or could be about school in general. I look forward to reading them when we return to school.

I have set further work on active learn so please check these out.

Take care and stay safe.

Missing you all loads as always.

Miss Ledbury, Miss O’Rourke and Ms Ford xxx
