Home Learning for week beginning 23.03.20

Friday 27th March 2020

Hi Lovelies!

We made it to Friday!!! I hope you are well and trying your best to be a hero! Miss Ledbury and I want you to know we miss you and are thinking about you and your families every day!!!!

For your home learning today, I would like you to get started into our new battles on ttrockstars!

6F at this moment (7pm 26.03.20) you are smashing it with 60,125 to Year 4M's 44,034! Well done! Let's keep that going in our next battle! I am proud of you all! Blessing is our highest scorer with currently over 40,000 points!

6L you have managed to increase your score also - well done! Elham has now taken the lead with over 7,000 points, closely followed by Chloe... well done girls!!

Today I would like you to complete the PHSEe session below. Watch the video and write your letter in your exercise book - write a letter to your hero(es).

Once you have completed that, I would also like you to complete your stories - if you haven't already  - and share them with your parents!

I have also added some extra activities to active learn for you to complete linked with fractions, decimals and percentages. Remember to also visit maths is fun and complete some of the questions they have on this area of maths.

If you look near the top of the page children, I have added stars for you to click on and access links. One of these stars has the author David Walliams name on it. When you click it, it will take you to some links where you will be able to hear him read a new story - EVERY DAY!

Finally, lots of people have been drawing and colouring rainbows and displaying them in their windows to help cheer people up while we all have to stay in our houses. I would like you at home to create a rainbow and display it in your window to help cheer people up when they are out for their daily exercise - why not add a message too!

Have a look to see how many you can spot when you are out for your daily exercise!

I have also added a new 'tea time' talk for you to do with your family - I can't wait to hear about all these wonderful debates/discussion you are having!

See you all soon,

Miss ORourke and Miss Ledbury xx

P.S. the first news for this week is also in one of the stars above, why not read it as well!

27.03.20 PHSEe For the Heroes: A Pep Talk From Kid President

This one goes out to all the heroes - the kids and the grownups who are doing extraordinary things to make the world more awesome!
Our hero (Miss ORourke and Miss Ledbury) is not just one person at the moment, but lots of people! They are all the doctors and nurses and front line workers helping our world to get better and all those people who are staying indoors to protect others - you guys! Think about someone who is your hero.
Write a letter to them explaining to them why they are your hero and perhaps you can share it with them too!

27.03.20 Teatime talk:

Are heroes ever scared?

Every day I will be posting a 'teatime talk' question for you all to discuss at home with your family. These questions are thunks.

There are NO right or wrong answers to
these questions – simply YOUR answers.

You do, however, need to think about your
answers and be able to justify them – in other words, don’t say the first thing that comes into your head, AND, be prepared to fully explain your answers when you give them.

Listen to the answers given by others and treat them seriously – even if they sound odd, they may all be valid if they can be justified.

Thursday 26th March 2020

Hi kids,

I hope you are well and still managing to keep a routine of getting up early and going to bed early! Also, don't forget to wash you hands regularly! Check out the video below for tips on this. Did you all manage to do 'PE with Joe today'? If not maybe try to do this tomorrow. Why not get your whole family involved!? Come on Mums and Dads you can do it!

Today I would like you to complete some of the tasks on your 'learning projects' week 1 - look at the art activity and the geography activity also.

Additionally, I would like you to finish your stories and the publish your final version - I can't wait to read them!

Well done to all of you for logging into ttrockstars! Blessing is still in the lead with over 33,000 points in 6F with Hlya, Abdirahim, Faduma and Ladan also scoring highly. We are currently in the lead - we need to keep this up!

In 6L, Mustafa is holding the top spot with over 4,000 points. Remember the battles end tomorrow evening - 6L we have a lot of catching up to do if we want to win! I know we can do it!!!

We would also like you to work on your spellings today. Please use https://spellingframe.co.uk to help you do this.

And don't forget to read for at least 10 minutes! We have also added another 'tea time talk' for you to do with your family.

Missing you all so much and hoping you and your families are doing well!

Miss O'Rourke and Miss Ledbury xx

P.S. We have added some 'stars' above that you can click on to access links/web addresses, videos and some audio stories - check them out!
