We have been using fingers, numicon and counters to find two numbers that make 10.

Can you use your fingers at home to find and say two numbers that add together to make 10?

                  9             +          1       =   10

    9 and 1 makes 10

   9 add 1 equals 10

                  7          +            3          =  10

7 and 3 makes 10

7 add 3 equals 10

                 4          +            6         =  10

                6           +           4          =  10

We have used our bus to show and say what one less than a given number would be. Ask your child to show you 'one less than.....6', using numbers up to 10.

The bus can also be used to show one more.

Last week in phonics we were learning digraphs 'sh', 'ch', 'th' and 'ng'. A digraph is two letters that make one sound.

Can you think of a word that includes these digraphs?

For example:

shop, ship, shed, fish, cash

chips, chick, bench, chain, chin

thick, thin, bath, moth (soft sound)

this, then, that, them (hard sound)

sing, king, thing, song,

Can your child sound out these words? e.g s-w-i-ng
