You will have seen much speculation on the news about if school will open next week. The simple answer at this time is that I don't know.
Schools ARE safe for children, simply because they do not get seriously unwell from COVID-19. Are they safe for the families of the children and the staff who work closely with them, that is the debate raging on in the media at the moment.
The Teaching unions have joined together to ask the government for more guidance. In England, we have to keep 2m away from each other, limit the number of people we see and interact with and wear face masks in all spaces. Yet in school... none of this applies.
Our children's safety is a priority, but in the case of a virus that is easily transmittable to all family members and staff, the safety of everyone is something we have to consider.
If after reviewing the risk assessment it is deemed unsafe at this time, we will move to remote learning and review the data each week. We will let you know as soon as we can.
This is a rapidly changing situation. I am truly sorry for any stress or inconvenience this is causing.
