I am sure after the Prime Minister's statement last night, you have lots of questions. Both as a Head Teacher, and as a parent of a Year 1 child, I have a lot of questions too!
At the moment, for us in school, there is no change to the current guidance. We will continue to provide care for the children of key workers, whose work is critical to the COVID-19 response and only those who can not be cared for safely at home. The message is still that it is safer to stay home.
We have not received any information to support us with the new plan to start the phased re-opening of some year groups. As a school leader, I had not advance notice of this statement and watched it on the TV with everyone else. We expect to receive further information from the DFE shortly, hopefully with some further clarification.
We will need clear guidance to plan how it will be possible for social distancing to be implemented in schools to keep our children, staff and families safe; how we will phase groups of children into school and what this may actually look like. Please be assured that our children's safety is paramount. along with my own staff and the families of everyone in the school building.
I will continue to update you when we have further guidance and clarification, for the moment, please try not to worry.
We will continue to provide resources online for your children to work through.
Thank you for you continued support in these difficult and uncertain times.
