We are completing Unit 1 - Numbers to 10 - On this page you will find lots of resources that we use at school and use can use at home to support your child in counting.
The staircase model is really important when helping children counting to 10. It demonstrates the relative size of numbers, allows children to count objects and see how many in each tower and it allows children to match the numerals to the corresponding number of objects
Similarly, the staircase model can support children counting back. It allows them to see the pattern is the same for counting on but in reverse.
Number tracks show the numerals to 10 and the order in which they appear. They also show numbers as written words.
