This week we have started our new English Topic which is 'Animals'
Today we read the story 'How to hide a lion'
The children in YS worked in groups to act out the story.
There were some really good lion impressions :)

D&T
This term in D&T we have been looking at joining materials.
We have learnt many techniques such as, plaiting, knotting and gluing various materials together.
YS had a go at creating hairstyles for themselves :)

This week we have started looking at African Jewellery in relation to the Maasai Tribe in Kenya!
The children have designed necklaces and used specific colours to make them brighter.
We also discovered a new technique of joining materials...WEAVING!
The children (and Miss Hussain) loved it and we have had some brilliant outcomes.
Well done for all your hard work this week YS :)
We have started learning about the BFG.
We thought about what our favourite dreams consist of and published them!
British Science Week
We planted Sunflower seeds for British Science Week.
During our Science lessons, we will be observing their growth!

Today was WORLD BOOK DAY and we had two superheroes in YS!
YS dressed up in their pyjamas and costumes and enjoyed reading their books from home :)
YS want to say a big THANK YOU to Year 5 and 6 who came and read with them in the morning and afternoon. I am sure they will make excellent future teachers!
The children were very engaged and had lots of fun!
In YS we have been very busy learning about significant people from the past.

This week started off great with our trip.
We visited the Lapworth Museum and had an amazing time!
We learnt lots about fossils and rocks!

This week we have started our science topic 'materials'
We carried out an investigation to see which fabric was the stretchiest for a sports headband.

This week has been a very exciting and busy week in YS!
We have started our new topic which is 'Mary Anning' and we will be writing our very own diary entry!
This week we have been role playing and using our iPads to create a fact sheet about Mary Anning.

YS had their very own Santa Clause in the class!

This week it was Visual Literacy week and our topic was 'Twas The Night Before Christmas'
We watched videos and learnt about Acrostic poems.

We made our Christmas cards using our colour wheels and our 'warm' and 'cool' colours.

In Maths we have been looking at adding 2-digit numbers by 2-digit numbers (32 + 64) using the column method.

In DT we have been looking at free standing structures.
We used our knowledge of the UK to create a free standing structure for the Queen to place in her garden in Buckingham Palace :)
We have been using Adverbs and Fronted Adverbials in our English lessons.
Challenge: Miss Hussain wants to see if everyone in YS can use at least 4 adverbs and 3 fronted adverbials in your sentences.
