We will go over anything you are unsure about when we return to school.

Friday 3rd April 2020

Hi everybody,

It's Friday and we have made it to the end of the second week of home learninglaugh.  We hope you have had fun reading the books online and completing the activities.

Well done to all the children who have logged on to Abacus (active learn) and tried all the activities. Try to remember to log on to Abacus and TT Rockstars regularly to check for tasks to complete on my stuff. We will add more fun games for you.

Today you are going to become an illustrator and draw a character from the book Dinosaur Juniors written by Rob Biddulph. We want you to watch the video clip below and follow the steps.

Once you have competed your drawing, you can have a dance to celebrate (just like I did) then have a go at drawing a similar character so Greg can have a friend. After that, you can use the two characters to tell or write a story if you wish; or maybe you could hang your drawing up with a nice message on to make your family smile.

Have fun drawing.laugh

Hello Year 2,

Well done for all you continued hard working! We hope you are enjoying your time at home, remember to do the activities we set for you everyday, read for 5-10 minutes a day and practise your times tables on TT Rockstars.

We have some exciting news for you!

The Active Learn Website you are using to complete the activities we set you will now allow you to use the activities on BUG CLUB!

You need to log into BUG CLUB using the same login details as you use for abacus.

We have allocated you some books to read on this platform. After you have read the books you will be asked some questions, write the answers to these questions in your Home Learning Books.

When you have finished the activity above why not choose a scene from the story and make a slider and a story backdrop with it -  like we did in Design and Technology with the Story of The Gingerbread Man. Then you can retell the story to a family member.

Wednesday 1st April 2020

Hello year 2 cheeky

Happy new month.

Today's activity is all about directions. Remember the compasses we made? Well, we want you to make another one. Try to remember where to the place the compass point  directions (north, east, south and west).

When you have finished making your compass, use it to help you right some directions. You are going to hide something in your house and write a set of directions for a family member, so they can find it.

Remember you need to tell them where to start and you also need to say how many steps north, east, south or west. You can also use forwards, backwards, turn left or right if you wish to.

Check to see if your directions are correct before giving it to a family member.

Challenge: Instead of saying walk use different action words (verbs) for how the person should move. Try jump, hop or baby steps.

Have a great day.

Miss Richards and Mrs Hussain

* paint half of a butterfly with some dots in it, fold it and find out what happens to the         number of dots

* gather some items, put them in front of a small mirror on a table and then count the items on the table and the items you can see reflected in the mirror to find the total, try it with different numbers of items

Monday 30th March 2020

Happy Monday year 2

Good morning year 2. We hope you have had a good weekend with your family. This is the second week of learning from home and we are missing you. We have another fun filled week ahead and we hope you are ready to engage your brain and show your family how great you are.

Today's activity is all about writing a story. We want you to use your creative imagination and finish writing the story. Look at the picture below and read what we have written, after that be as creative as possible to complete the story.

The hole in the fence

Ryan was puzzled. Things just kept disappearing from his garden. At first it was just small things, like his toy car, then larger things began to go missing. His dad’s lawnmower vanished and his mum’s favourite plant pot with her favourite plants in. Gone! Just gone!

One afternoon, after Ryan had got in from school and done his homework, he stood at his bedroom window. He was ready….

Finish the rest of the story

Use the ideas to help you.

What did Ryan see?

What was on the other side of the fence?

Was it a hole underground sucking things into the vortex?

Was it another human using a machine?

Be as creative as possible. Remember to use capital letters, full stops and finger space when writing your sentences. Remember to form your letters correctly and sit them on the line.

Try to use a subordinating conjunction (when, if, that).

Try to use a co-ordinating conjunction (and, but, because, so).

Remember to use adjectives and expanded noun phrases to describe and make your story interesting for the reader. Example: Ryan stood as still as a statue, looking in amazement. The large brown solid tree was moving. The tree which had been there ever since he could remember.

Adjectives= brown, large and solid

Expanded noun phrase = The large brown solid tree

Have fun writing.
