Tuesday 31st January 2023
Today is Science we were learning about the transportation of water in plants. We used food colouring and placed white flowers to see if the water would move up the plant. We drew a diagram in our books and tried to use the correct scientific vocabulary. Here are a few examples of our amazing work.
Today in 3L we had PE where we are learning how to use a range of jumps within a gymnastics sequence, making sure we have a safe landing.
Tuesday 17th January 2023
Today in Science we planted a range of seeds in root viewer so we can see how the roots grow once the seeds germinate. We planted mustard, cress, pea and sunflower seeds. Over the next few weeks we are going to be measuring the length of the roots.
Today in Science we were learning about plants and how roots work. We carried out an investigation on how water is absorbed through the root hairs. We learnt, the more root hairs a root has, the more water will be absorbed at a quicker rate. Allowing the water and nutrients to travel to the rest of the plant. We used different thicknesses of string to represent the roots and held this to the waters surface for it to absorb the water.
Thursday 15th December - Design and Technology
Today we designed, investigated and made a torch. We started off by seeing if we could make a circuit using the electrical equipment. After that, we then designed a torch in our books thinking about who would use it and what it could be used for. Finally we tried to make a torch. Some children were able to make a switch so they could switch their torch on and off.
Wednesday 14th December - Christmas Party Day
Today was Christmas dinner and Christmas party day. We all ate so much and had so much fun!
Today we had our parent workshop all about Reading. Thank you to all the parents who were able to come, we hope you found it useful. Remember if you have any questions, just see us at the end of the day, we are only happy to help!
Please see below for the power point we went through along with the list of recommended reads for Year 3 pupils.
Today was Christmas jumper day. We enjoyed wearing our Christmas jumpers to school today.
In year 3 we have been learning the recorder. Children have been working really hard to get note b, as well as read the music to play along to the correct beat.
Last Week (we 14.11.22) was anti-bullying week. In class we discussed what bullying was, how to identify it and how to prevent it. Some children produced excellent posters to pass on the messages we learnt.
Children In Need - Friday 18th November
We came dressed to school in our own clothes to raise money for Children In Need. We discussed what makes us special and what is special about our friends. We then had to crack the code to escape the classroom using our SPAG knowledge. This required team work and determination. We had so much fun.
15.11.22
Today in Science, 3L were measuring the amount of friction created between two surfaces. We tested our shoe on different surfaces within the classroom and used a newton metre to measure the force.
This term we are learning about Natural Disasters. For homework, children were asked to make a model. Here are a few examples.
