On this page you will find useful links and information on what we are learning in school!

 

 P.E is on a Monday and Tuesday. Please remember to bring your P.E kit in on those days.

Reading books and Reading Records need to be in everyday for reading groups.

Homework is given out on a Thursday and should be returned on a Wednesday the following week.

Homework

Homework will be set across a range of platforms. Please make sure you complete all tasks set. Children have all logins which they require in their homework books or reading records. 

Spellings

These will be sent home in your homework book, please practise these by writing them out using look, cover, write and check method. Then write these words into a sentence showing you understand the meaning of each word. Activities will also be set on EdShed.

 

Purple Mash

Purple Mash will have activities set linked with a range of subjects. 

 

Maths

Maths homework will be set on Purple Mash and TT Rockstars. Children need to continue to practise their times tables knowledge. 

 

Reading

Children have their reading book and reading for pleasure book that they bring home. Children need to record what they have read in their reading records. We ask parents to sign this at the end of the week. Children will also be set quizzes on Reading On Your Head.

Friday 17th November 2023

Today was Children In Need. We came dressed in our own clothes for a donation and then we learnt how they spend our money. We labelled how many activities are supported by Children In Need in many of the major UK cities. 

Friday 17th November 

Today during maths in 5L, we were consolidating our knowledge of improper fractions and turning these into mixed numbers. We we using the cubes to help us and then using the bar model to visualise it.

16th November 2023

Today we took part in positive noticing day. We watched each other and celebrated what we noticed them doin. It was lovely to see all things we were noticed for.

Tuesday 24th October 2023

Today Year 5 enjoyed another basketball session from Mr Woodward from the City of Birmingham Rockets Basketball Club. He taught us how to dribble and we tried to shoot. We have really enjoyed the skills that he has taught us this halfterm.

Tuesday 10th October 2023

Year 5 have been lucky to be working in PE with Mr Woodward, who is a basketball coach. This week we were developing our dribbling skills. We had to dribble a basket ball whilst catching a tennis ball with our other hand. It was challenging but we all persevered with the task and had so much fun.

In computing we have been learning how to code. We have been creating games and simulations.

National Poetry Day

 

Today we looked at a selection of poems for National Poetry Day around the theme of refuge. Children read the poems and explored the theme before having a go at writing our own collum lune poem.

 

Week beginning: 18.9.23

Music

This week in music we have been learning to play the notes C, G, A sharp and B on the glockenspiel. The melody is called ghost parade.

Art

This week we worked on monotone printing. We chosen a part of our house to enlarge and create a print from.

Math

In math this week we learnt how to represent number up to 10,000 in different ways. We partitioned the numbers using a part whole model and a place value grid.  

 

Art

We have been learning how to draw from direct observation.  First we drew the out line, then added detail. It was important to look carefully. Here are some of our finished drawings.
