We were very excited to receive our class set of BBC micro:bits. Pupils had a fantastic time getting the pocket-sized computer powered up and tinkering with the different features. Some pupils also manage to code the micro:bit to display messages!
Look at some of the amazing writing Year 6 have been doing!
We had a great time learning about what life was like for children in Victorian Britain. The pupils were fully immersed in the experience.
We had a fantastic 'Youth First Aid' session kindly delivered by the British Red Cross. Pupils learnt important life skills such as the recovery position and CPR. It was also great to see pupils putting their acting skills to good use!
Thank you to all the parents/carers who joined us for the Y6 reading workshop today. What a lovely opportunity to encourage the love for reading and the benefits of reading in all areas of learning.
We have added some lovely photos below and a video presentation of the workshop for anyone unable to make it.
Our novel study this half term is ‘Holes’. In preparation for our non-chronological reports, we have had a go at drawing yellow-spotted lizards and collected information about the deadly creatures.
The pupils were very proud of their setting descriptions of Camp Green Lake.
Our novel study is ‘Holes’ and we are currently in the planning phase of our setting description of Camp Green Lake.
Y6 had the privilege of listening to some amazing and inspiration speeches from prospective school councillors. At Brookfields we believe in each and every child expressing their views, thoughts and opinions, and that was evident today. Well done to their peers who showed the utmost respect and asked some challenging questions!
