British Science Week 6th - 15th March 2020.

This years theme is Our Diverse Planet.

In Science we have been learning about living things and their habitats. Today, as part of science week, we went on a hunt for invertebrates. We found a range of different invertebrates  from woodlice to worms to slugs. We look at the conditions they lived and in and discussed what they would need to survive. As humans, it is our job to protect our planet including all that live on it so we returned to the class room to design a bug hotel. We decided it needed to be made from sustainable material as to not have a negative impact on our environment. Here are just a few pictures of our designs.

We found lots of worms under the bin!
We found a slug next to the fence.

World Book Day 2020.

On Thursday 5th March, we came to school dressed as a book character.

As Wonder is our class novel we created our own precepts. Here are a few pictures from our day.

We are in the process of making dragon eyes. Here are a few of our sketches. We have been working on the skills of shading and toning.

13th February 2020

During PE this week we worked in a houses to participate in a dodge ball competition. We really enjoyed playing dodge ball and having the competition.

Friday 31st January 2020

Today was our problem solving day. In Year 6 we had 5 different problems to solve to break the code. Luckily we worked well together and found out the code in time to go home! All of the children enjoyed working together in groups and even though they found some parts tricky, they persevered. Here are a few photos of us working together.

Monday 16th December 2019

Today we started our Visual Literacy topic based all around The Muppets Christmas Carol. We started off by watching the film and then we did some art work.

Our art work was to use our skills of sketching to draw some of the ghosts from A Christmas Carol. We had a range of artist illustrations to copy from. Here are a few examples.

In Science we have been learning about light. Today, Wednesday 11th December, we were looking at the colours of the spectrum. We made colour wheels using the colours of the rainbow and watched in amazement as to what happened.
Today (02.12.19), Year 6 went to Steelhouse Lane to ‘The Lock Up’. Here we learnt all about the police and keeping safe. We got to try on police uniform, have our finger prints taken as well as see the inside of a real prison cell.

Today, Thursday 21st Novemebr, we had a 'Holes' topic day. We dressed up as a character from the book. Mr Sir made an appearance and made us do some 'drills'; we made our own sploosh, weighing out the ingredients; we acted out a scene and we did some silhouette art of the big thumb! We had a really enjoyable day,

Today, (04.11.19) we learnt all about bees! We wrote a non-chronological report, tessellated hexagons to replicate honeycomb and learnt how to draw a bee!

In RE we have been learning about Diwali. We used clay to create our own diva lamps.
