Keeping Your Child Safe

The Birmingham Safeguarding Children Board (BSCB) has launched a public awareness campaign ‘Keeping Children Safe is Everybody’s Business’. The aim is to raise community awareness of what to do if you are worried about a child and most importantly to encourage members of the public to call Birmingham City Council’s Children’s Advice & Support Service to report their concerns, so action can be taken to safeguard and protect the child.

Fire Safety

 

Fire Safety across the school is taken very seriously so the school undertakes weekly testing of the fire alarms.  All fire exit doors are serviced and checked regularly to make sure they are working correctly.  As well as this, fire risk assessments are carried out on the school building and its playgrounds.  We have fire drill practice where the children evacuate the building and assemble in the playground.

Medicines

 

Please inform the school if there are any changes to your child’s health which the school should know about.  We constantly update our Medical Needs registers and check any medicines the children should have in school for e.g. epi-pens, asthma inhalers, piriton etc. 

 

If a child is receiving on-going medication, parents are allowed to come into school by prior written arrangement to administer this completing a record of “Medication To Be Administered,” form.  Medication cannot be administered by school staff without prior agreement; please visit the school office to discuss this. 

 

 

Brookfields is a nut free zone because we have a number of children with nut allergies, some of whom can have severe allergic reactions to even the smell of nuts.  It is important to ensure that all food stuffs particularly packed lunches do not contain nuts either in their whole form or cooked within other foods such as cereal bars etc.
