  • Well done!

    Wed 06 Jan 2021

    Dear families,

I am so proud of our children, parents and staff! Today has been nothing short of intense. We know many of our families are not as IT savvy as we are... but by the time lockdown is over - you will be!

We did experience a city wide crash earlier in the week due to the number of children logging onto the platform in Birmingham, but they seemed to have fixed the issue.

We are here to help, but please bear with us. Packs are now ready for collection for your children, these contain workbooks, passwords and pencils. (If your child is in Reception, Year 3 or Year 5, they have already had their book allocation.) These books are if your children have spare time.

We are starting easy, we know families with multiple children will need to settle into a pattern to access the online learning so we have started off gently. The work expectation will increase as we all become more settled.

    Thank you for your support.

  • National School Closure

    Mon 04 Jan 2021

    Dear Parents,

As I write this at 9pm on Monday 4th January, I can't believe we are back to this point again.

School will now be closed to all pupils until after February half term.

We will make provision for key worker children and any children we think need to be in school for personal reasons.

We have spent today planning a short term remote learning plan as we hoped we would open by 18th if not before. Now we know this is a longer term situation, we will need to reassess the plan.

We will update you with more information as soon as possible.

Thank you for your support at this challenging time.

    Best wishes,

    Mrs Lees

  • The Ballet at Brookfields!

    Mon 14 Dec 2020

We had a wonderful morning on the 14th December as our visual Literacy project is centered around the Nutcracker Ballet.

All the classes watched the New York Ballet perform the Nutcracker via a streaming service and we dressed up for the part! We are looking forward to using this stimulus to create fantastic pieces of writing.

  • Marvellous Me -is LIVE!

    Mon 02 Nov 2020

We miss seeing our parents and chatting with you all at the door and on the playground. It is hard for us to be able to share all the successes your child is having when we are sending the children out at the end of the day.

We will not be able to hold normal parent's evening this term and you have only been able to see snap shots of the displays in the newsletter.

Marvellous Me is an app where your child's class teacher will be able to send recognition awards and badges direct to your phone. These messages come as push notifications and we are able to send photos and video clips too. We want you to know what the children have been learning at school so that you can ask them about what they have discovered. We want you to be able to celebrate with your child when they have been marvellous!

Please look at the parents section for the first peek!

  • Autumn 2 - here we come!

    Mon 02 Nov 2020

    Dear Families,

Last half term went so fast, I didn't get round to updating this section! I am sure you have all been reading our newsletter so you will know how busy last half term was!

We were very lucky last half term, we had no bubble closures and our attendance was excellent. With the new lockdown restrictions coming in, it is so important for our children's well-being that they come to school to continue their learning.

As a staff, we have worked hard to make our school environment as safe as possible. We will need our children to continue to follow the rules to keep everyone safe and well. We also ask that our families support us by maintaining social distancing at all times and wearing a mask on our playground.. this little act will help keep everyone that little bit safer. As always, we thank you for your support in these challenging times.

    Best wishes,

    Mrs Lees

  • THANK YOU!

Fri 04 Sep 2020 Mrs Lees

Thank you for an amazing first week back.

The children have been amazing and we appreciate how all our parents have been so patient with the new systems we have put in place.

The week was so busy I didn't get my newsletter out, I will send it out on Monday!

We are so happy to be back with you all and will see you next week!

    Best wishes,

    Mrs Lees

  • We're Back!

Thu 27 Aug 2020 Mrs Lees

    Dear all,

We are so excited to welcome our wonderful children back to school on Wednesday. We have been working hard to ensure our school is COVID secure, as well as getting ready for an exciting year of learning. We are aware that many parents may have questions about how we can keep our children safe, I have attached a parent handbook in the Parents - September opening section, which will hopefully answer some of those key questions.

    Some headline points:

    - No breakfast club until we have confirmed numbers - only working parents will be accommodated  and you must book a place indicating what days you need. The charge remains £1 per day.

    - Children will be grouped in phases and have no contact with the other phases.

    - Reception and Key stage 1 will finish at 3:20, KS2 will finish at 3:30.

    - School gates will open at 8:35 along with the doors to classrooms - parents must drop their children and leave.

    - No parents will be allowed in school without an appointment, parents must wear masks if they wish to attend an appointment.

There is much more information in the parents section.

We can't wait to see you all!

  • September 2020 - the return!

Mon 06 Jul 2020 Mrs Lees

    Dear families,

As our academic year draws to an end, it is with a heavy heart I reflect on what has been lost this year. I can assure you that all staff have been working tirelessly to prepare for September and we are ready to welcome every child back into school.

We have been asked a few questions regarding September so I thought I would add a few FAQs below:

    1) Will my child wear school uniform?

YES - this is an important part of establishing rules and high expectations for our children. New jumpers are available from http://www.gognaschoolwear.co.uk/

    2) Will children be keeping 1m apart?

No, this won't be possible. However, we will reduce the contact between children, continue to demand rigorous hand and respiratory hygiene, reduced number of children on the playground and staggered lunches.

    3) Do I have to send my child back to school?

Yes, any child aged 5 or over must be in full time education unless parents elect to formally withdraw them from education and home school them permenantly. (This must be submitted in writing and follow the legal guidance for home schooling.)

    4) My child has a medical condition and I have concerns, what should I do?

Please call school to discuss your concerns.

    5) What happens if someone becomes ill?

Anyone who has symptoms of COVID-19 must stay at home and self-isolate with their family. A COVID-19 test must be taken.

If the test is negative: The family no longer need to self-isolate and the child can return when they feel better.

If the test is positive: The child will have to stay at home for 14 days along with their whole family. The children and staff in the same bubble (2 year groups e.g Y3&Y4) will all have to stay home and isolate for 14 days. This is the government guidance. We know this will impact families but it is not optional for pupils or staff.

    6) If my child is sent home, how will this impact their education?

We are preparing our home learning platform to ensure any child who is sent home will be able to access learning from their class teacher.

    7) I come on the bus and I am a bit worried, what can I do?

This Link will show you how to maximise your safety when travelling on the bus, it is a youtube video.

September will be a period of change and adjustment, but we will all work together to get our children back to school and back on track with their learning.

  • End of Term

Tue 30 Jun 2020 Mrs Lees

    Dear Parents/Carers,

We have made the decision to close the school to all attending pupils on Friday July 10th. (We will continue to stay open for key worker children until Wednesday 15th July)

This will allow us to offer a half day session to ALL pupils the following week.

Parents will receive a letter with their child's report, inviting their child into school for a half day session with their new teacher for next year. As we won't have seen many of our children since mid-March, this appointment is crucial to help prepare your child for September. Please see your letter for more detail. We hope that due to the small numbers in school at any one time, all children will be able to attend.

Monday 13th - the current Reception and Year 1 (either (9:30-12:00  or 13:00-15:30, your letter will tell you which time.)

Tuesday 14th - the current Year 2 and Year 3 (either (9:30-12:00  or 13:00-15:30, your letter will tell you which time.)

Wednesday 15th - the current Year 4 and Year 5 (either (9:30-12:00  or 13:00-15:30, your letter will tell you which time.)
