We went on our first school trip to Ash End Farm and had a lovely day. The children got to explore the farm, feed the animals and learn all about a farmer's job. They also got to take an egg home from the hens in the farm. Children were able to link their topic knowledge of jobs as a farmer as well as seeing animals and their young. The farmers at Ash end Farm were very impressed with the children’s knowledge and behaviour. Finally a big thank you to all our parent volunteers who were fantastic at supporting the children.
World Book Day was a great success in Reception. Children dressed up as a character from a book and shared their favourite stories from home with their friends. In the morning we had some of our parents come and read to our classes. Also a big thank you to Year 5 for coming and reading to the classes in the afternoon, we really enjoyed it.
This week we had had 10 eggs from Living eggs who were ready to hatch into chicks. The children got a chance to observe how chicks hatch from eggs and how they are kept warm as part of their life cycle topic lessons. We have enjoyed looking after them by feeding them and holding them.
Thank you to all our wonderful family members for joining us today for our Maths Parent Workshop. We focused on number recognition and numerical pattern. The children really enjoyed showing you what they do in school. Hope you found the session useful!
The PowerPoint used is located in the Parent Workshop tab below. It contains a few more useful websites you can use to support your children. Once again thank you all for coming and spending time with us.
Today we had a visit from the Artis Foundation. Children acted out our focus story of Goldilocks and the three bears. Children really brought the story to life by using different voices and expressions to reflect the characters. It was a very enjoyable learning experience.
